It is important to print it out with no scaling (this will ensure and accurate size of the template). To accomplish this look for the words “actual size”, no scaling or 100% on the printer properties dialogue box. Make sure you keep both eyes open and can just barely see both lines on either side of the smallest part of your thumb (usually about halfway between the base and the knuckle).

Yes, many people have slightly different size thumbs. If your thumbs appear to be different sizes, we suggest buying the smaller size and stretching one out when you get it (by pulling from the inside out). Mark them with an L and R to keep them straight.

Yes, silicone is not 100% elastic. This means that over time it will stretch out some. This is why we recommend picking the smaller size if you think you are between sizes.

Silicone is an extremely durable material, you can clean it with soap and warm water, a vinegar and hydrogen peroxide mixture, boiling it water or even steaming it.

Silicone rings (ThumbShield) are hypoallergenic, meaning that they’re unlikely to cause an allergic reaction. That being said, there are some people out there that do have a silicone allergy. These people are rare, but they exist.

Certainly, silicone is indisputably safer for human health than plastic.  Plastic is a petroleum-based material commonly containing estrogen-mimicking chemicals like bisphenol-A (BPA).

While not a “100% natural” material like rubber, food-grade silicone is a non-toxic polymer mostly made from silica (sand). It can withstand heating and freezing without leaching or off-gassing, hazardous chemicals – unlike plastics, which contaminate food in these environments.
